Continuing Airworthiness

CAR AIR | Continuing Airworthiness addresses the standards of continuing airworthiness for all aircraft operated under General Aviation CAR OPS 2A or 2H and RPAS operated under CAR OPS 4.

The owner/operator of an aircraft must have appropriate arrangements for continuing airworthiness management as required by the CAR AIR regulation.

For those aircraft with appropriate arrangements for continuing airworthiness management with an approved continuing airworthiness management organisation from the following Authorities as defined on CAP 02 para 20, may qualify for a Certificate of Airworthiness (C of A) valid for a period of 24 months:

(a) EASA Part M Subpart G, as approved by an EASA Member State
(b) CAR M Subpart G, as approved by the UAE GCAA
(c) CAR OPS 1 or CAR OPS 3 Maintenance System Approval, as approved by the San Marino CAA.
(d) OTAR Part 39 Subpart E Continuing Airworthiness Management as approved by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Cayman Islands (CAACI)
(e) OTAR Part 39 Subpart E Continuing Airworthiness Management as approved by the Bermuda Civil Aviation Authority (BCAA)

Reference should also be made to CAP 02 Section 20 for further guidance when arrangements for continuing airworthiness management is subcontracted to any of the above continuing airworthiness management organisation.

The owner/operator must also appoint a person acceptable to the CAA and known as the Airworthiness Coordinator who will ensure that appropriate arrangements for continued airworthiness management required by CAR AIR are in place. The Airworthiness Coordinator can be appointed using Form SM 64A.

Reference should also be made to CAP 02 Section 20 for further guidance when arrangements for continuing airworthiness management is subcontracted to any of the above continuing airworthiness management organisation.

For all aircraft operated commercially under a San Marino AOC, the holder of the Air Operator Certificate must refer to CAR OPS 1/3, Subpart M for continuing airworthiness regulations.
